We made it home from Dalton's Children's Wish trip! It was a great week, enjoyed by all. Not only did we see Toronto non-stop; I got to visit with my sister and a couple of good friends from years gone by. Teghre was so much to do, and certainly not enough hours in the day for everything.
Children's Wish took care of Everything...hotel, car rental, flights, City Passes, tickets to Blue Jays, and of course, tickets to Toby Keith... the whole point of the trip! They even threw in spending money for meals and souvenirs. It was nice to not have to worry about anything. Of course, Toronto is more expensive, and we wouldn't want to live there!
Dalton was thrilled to meet Toby, but very annoyed he wasn't allowed to ask for an autograph. We couldn't even take pictures. They took one, and then told us it would be available on his website, but neglected to say there would be a charge! Dalton was not as impressed after all. The next night, we went to the Blue Jays vs Orioles game. Again. no autographs; he was told they only do them Saturday and Sunday before games...Dalton argued he wasn't going to be there on the weekend; but the security guard sent him away. He was NOT impressed, and stomped all the way back to the hotel. Thankfully, we came across an eco-taxi and he was willing to take the boys for as ride. I just wanted him to take them back to the hotel, but they were almost there, so he suggested down the block and back aagain. A good chance for Dalton to blow off some steam in the cool September evening!!
All in all, a great trip, and we were all exhausted when we got back in Fredericton. Thankfully, Dalton's chemo got changed to Thursday, so he had a couple of extra days to rest, then DECH, then back home for a one day school week. So glad it is the weekend, though!
Almost forgot the CHOCOLATE!!
We met this great couple at the Toby Keith Concert. Turns out they own a Bar & Grill outside Toronto, and invited us for a free supper. As our days/hours were getting numbered, we went for a quick lunch before heading to Canada's Wonderland. Surprise! they had treats for Dalton and the rest of us, and put on Toby Keith again in the background! He got a Toronto Maple Leafs Jersey, and we all got shirts and hats.
the best part? St. Louis Bar & Grill has an exclusive signature dessert...Lindt Chocolate Ice Cream Cake! MMmmmmmmm...to die for! worth skipping the caesar wraps and sweet potato fries for!
need to go searching for a recipe now....

FOG!!
Yesterday morning on my walk, it was simply gorgeous again...but I could hear foghorns off in the distance. I picked a pile of blackberries, and think I am about finished with them!!
One more batch of jam; blueberry I think, and I will be done with the jams for the year!
We had an interesting phone call this week from Children's Wish. Rocky's Sports Bar in Saint John has asked to sponsor Dalton's Wish trip to Toronto, and would like to meet him before school goes in. So, we are making a stop over in SJ next weekend, on our way to Halifax. They are providing meals and travel expenses, plus a night at the Hampton Inn & Suites. Dalton and I have stayed there once before and loved it! Very Nice! It will be good to meet the owner of Rocky's plus our Wish Coordinator, Marilyn.
Spent last night scrapping with he girls...wow! two nights in a row! Dalton had his first "girl/boy" party this week, so he was in need of a girly girl card. Not in my forte...but I had fun with it. Here's the pic of what I came up with, using CTMH Tickled Pink and Star Power stamp set. Of course, I can't just make one, so now I have a dozen girly girl cards!
Last week at Market tomorrow! It has been good, and Dalton has sold lots of Patio Stones, with only a few left. We will be traveling over the next two Saturday's, and with only one Market Day left of the season when we get back, I think we'll call it quits for 2010. It has been great to meet so many friends, old and new at market.
Hope to see you there tomorrow!
